What a difficulty score represents

SEO tools model ranking difficulty using their own inputs and formulas. Because methodologies differ, scores from different platforms should not be expected to match.

Use it as a filter

A difficulty score is useful for sorting a large keyword set. It is not enough to justify creating a page.

Verify the live SERP

Look at the ranking page types, domains, intent match, content quality, link profiles and SERP features. A moderate score can still be a poor target if the SERP strongly favors a format your site cannot credibly provide.
