Intent is observable

Instead of assigning intent from the keyword wording alone, inspect what Google currently ranks. Guides, category pages, product pages, tools and local results reveal the dominant destination type.

Mixed intent

Some SERPs contain several plausible outcomes. In those cases, build the page around the outcome your site can satisfy best and monitor whether Google treats it as a match.

Why intent controls clustering

Two phrases that sound similar can deserve separate pages if the searcher wants different outcomes. Conversely, many lexical variants may belong on one page when their SERPs substantially overlap.
