Rank tracking accuracy: measure consistently instead of chasing a perfect number

Different tools can report different positions without either one being useless. The conditions and methodology matter.

No rank tracker sees a universal position

Search results can vary by location, device, language, personalization, data center and time. A tool's reading is a measurement under defined conditions, not an eternal global rank.

Improve comparability

Keep the location, device and keyword set consistent. Compare trends over time instead of arguing over one-position differences between tools.

Use Search Console as another lens

Search Console's average position reflects impressions across real searches and is calculated differently from a fixed-location tracker. The two datasets answer related but different questions.
