SEO metrics: useful models, not Google truth

SEO scores compress messy data into convenient numbers. Use them to prioritize investigation, not to replace it.

Common third-party SEO metrics

SEO platforms create their own authority, traffic, difficulty and link metrics to summarize complex datasets. These are useful models, but they are not direct Google ranking scores.

Use metrics comparatively

A metric is usually more useful for comparing similar pages or domains inside the same tool than for declaring an absolute threshold that guarantees rankings.

Always inspect the underlying evidence

If a score looks surprising, open the SERP, backlink profile, traffic pages or other underlying data instead of making a decision from the summary number.
