Domain Authority vs Domain Rating: different models, similar caution

Both metrics are third-party attempts to summarize aspects of link-based authority. Neither is a Google ranking score.

They come from different companies

Domain Authority is associated with Moz, while Domain Rating is associated with Ahrefs. Other SEO tools have their own authority-style metrics.

Why the numbers differ

Each provider uses its own link index, formula, update process and scale behavior. Scores should not be expected to match.

How to use them

Compare like with like inside the same provider, then inspect the actual backlink and site context behind the number. Do not treat either score as a Google metric or ranking guarantee.
